Thanks for sharing this recipe, it really is a very versatile sauce. I spread it on pita to make vegan pizzas and the next day I used the left-over sauce to make a vegan Mac n cheese....just mixed it with macaroni and butternut squash, topped with Panko and baked it in the oven at 350F for 20-25 mins. As the sauce thickened in the fridge overnight, I used some reserved pasta water to thin it out for the Mac n cheese. Delicious sauce, will definitely be making again!

Is there a substitute for the cashews?

  6. Ginny McMeans

You could use any nut you'd like but the flavor would change a bit according to the nut Emily. The sauce also won't be as smooth as cashews because they 'disappear' completely when processed and become a smooth sauce.

  7. Myrna

Can you use almond flour instead or another grain free flour?

  8. Ginny McMeans

    Yes Myrna, that would work.

  9. Ellie

What kind of flour do you use?

  10. Ginny McMeans

Just an all-purpose flour but any can be used Ellie.

  11. Jude Ahmad

What is the recommended nutritional yeast? Is different from the everyday dry yeast?
    thanks.

  12. Ginny McMeans

Yes, it is completely different from dry yeast Jude. It is added for flavor and extra nutrition. The one that is easiest to find in the grocery stores is Bragg's (in the spice section in a large jar near the bottom) or Bob's Red Mill (in their separate section with their flours etc.).

  13. Melissa

Can you replace all or some of the cashews with coconut cream? Also can you use oat milk in place of almond milk? Just curious. Thanks so much!!
