Over the years, Dragon Ball has always come up with pleasant surprises for fans as Goku, Vegeta, and the other warriors have found ways to become stronger.Dragon Ball Z, in particular, took things to a whole new level after the introduction of Super Saiyan in the Frieza arc.

Goku has been on the front of all these transformations, especially the ones that prove to be a game-changer. While some of his looks have gone on to become absolutely iconic, some have left a lot to be desired.
10 Super Saiyan 4
Super Saiyan Four was properly introduced in Dragon Ball GT and while it gave the likes of Goku and Vegeta Vegeta immeasurable power, it's look left a lot to be desired. This was nothing but an improvement over the Great Ape Saiyan form as Goku and Vegeta found a way to control the burning rage. Goku's whole body was covered with red fur, besides the chest area, and there was a tail to go with it. Moreover, his eyes became darker and it gave a rather sinister look.
9 The Great Ape
One of the perks of having a Saiyan tail is that in the presence of a full moon, a Saiyan can transform himself into a giant ape. While the idea was bright, the animation wasn't and it always felt like the writers were missing a huge opportunity with this transformation. Be it Vegeta, kid Goku, or the young Gohan, the Great Ape transformation never really felt like a big deal.
8 Super Saiyan God
Dragon Ball Super started with the introduction of Universe 7's God of Destruction, Beerus, who woke up from his long sleep, with the dream of finding a being called Super Saiyan God.

With a very old ritual, Goku was able to ascend himself to the Super Saiyan God form and while it was one of the strongest forms ever, the look wasn'tveryinteresting. The glow was dull and the reddish-pink hair never reallylooked any good.
7 Kaioken
One of the very first transformations that Goku learned was the Kaioken technique that he learned when Vegeta and Nappa were about to raid the Earth. Goku died trying to get rid of Raditz and he found himself in the afterlife, training to get better to fight Vegeta and Nappa once he was called back upon Earth through the Dragon Balls. He used the Kaioken technique against Vegeta but still, it wasn't enough.
6 Super Saiyan Blue
Super Saiyan Blue was something that came out of nowhere and while the fans didn't like the look initially, it grew on them before it became a normality. Super Saiyan Blue is nothing but a spinoff of Super Saiyan God. Goku got used to the God-level energy and discoveredthat he was able to channel this blue form, which gives him the kind of energy deity's possess. The Super Saiyan Blue form became old news after Ultra Instinct.
5 Super Saiyan
A transformation that still gives goosebumps to the fans of the anime, the Super Saiyan form is absolutely breathtaking and iconic. The transformation took place in the Friezaarc when Goku snapped after watching Krillin die. Whenever a Saiyan is pushed to their breaking point, they manage tosurpass their potential and become enormously stronger. Super Saiyan Goku absolutely destroyed Frieza.
4 Super Saiyan 2
While Goku wasn't the first to become Super Saiyan 2, it stillgets a beautiful design, especially with the electricity crackling around the golden glow. The best fight Goku had in this form was against Vegeta, who was under thepossessionof Bobbidi.

Super Saiyan 2 is a huge upgrade on Super Saiyan for Goku,but it's still outclassed by Super Saiyan 3 in the very same arc.
3 Super Saiyan Blue Kaioken
The Kaioken is actually very difficult to master and there's a reason why Goku doesn't use it too frequently– it drains out a lot of energy from the body. Goku first used Super Saiyan Blue Kaioken in the tournament between Universe 6 and Universe 7. Almost immediately, all of his strength doubled, leading to Universe Six's best assassin, Hit, trying to up his game.SSBK looks absolutely sumptuous. The red glow around the blue gives a very intimidating presence and the power itself is nothing to joke about.
2 Ultra Instinct
In what was one of the best scenes in the history of the anime, Goku broke his barrier once again and showcased the autonomous Ultra Instinct; a form even Gods find difficult to achieve. When it looked like Jiren has pretty much killed Goku, he showedup with a brand new silver look and a lot of heat around his body. The heat he generated was so much that at one point, it covered the entire arena.Goku's grey eyes look absolutely stunning in Ultra Instinct.
1 Super Saiyan 3
Super Saiyan Three is hands down the coolest look that Goku has ever achieved.That huge golden hair, coupled with the dark eyes, and the intense electric sparkle make it exhilarating to watch in action. Although not Goku's strongest transformation, Super Saiyan Three did aid him at the worst of times when Majin Buu was going through his gears intent on destroying the Earth. It was a really good fight; one that showed the perks of Super Saiyan Three very well.
