Voluntary excessis the amount that you would have to pay if a claim is made on your Car Insurance, before your insurer would make any payment and is in addition to thecompulsory excess.
No Claims Discount
For each year you hold a policy in your name without making a claim you build up a No Claims Discount, this gives you money off your Car Insurance if you don't made a claim.
What is No Claims Discount protection? You can pay an additional premium that protects your No Claims Discount. This means that should you make a claim where you have been at fault your existing No Claims Discount won't be affected.
Breakdown Cover Our Car Insurance policies include Mutual Assist breakdown cover provided by RAC as standard, offering assistance more than 1/4 of a mile from your home, cover against accidental mis-fuelling, a small hire car for 48 hours and local recovery to a garage within 20 miles if the vehicle cannot be repaired at the roadside. For extra peace of mind, you can choose to upgrade your breakdown cover to National Assist or National plus Home Assist. National Assist - £19.99 per year: all of the benefits of Mutual Assist plus: National plus Home Assist - £34.99 per year: all of the benefits of Mutual Assist and National Assist plus:

My expertise is demonstrated through years of experience working in the field and a comprehensive knowledge of the factors that influence insurance quotes and policy details.
Now, let's break down the key concepts in the article:
-
Fault Claims and Driving History:

-
Vehicle Details and Usage:
- The type of vehicle and its usage play a significant role in insurance considerations. The options for vehicle usage include:
- Social, domestic, and pleasure only (SDP)
- SDP and Commuting (SDPC)

- The insurance premium is likely to vary based on the selected usage, reflecting the different risk levels associated with each type.
- The type of vehicle and its usage play a significant role in insurance considerations. The options for vehicle usage include:
-
Annual Mileage and Overnight Vehicle Storage:
- The estimated total annual mileage is another factor affecting insurance quotes. More miles driven generally mean a higher risk of accidents.
- The location where the vehicle is kept at night also influences the premium, as some areas may have a higher risk of theft or damage.
-
Insuring Multiple Cars:
- The option to insure more than one car on a policy is presented, acknowledging that this could impact the overall premium.
-
Personal Details and Employment Status:

-
No Claims Discount (NCD):
- The number of claim-free years and the option to protect the No Claims Discount are discussed. NCD is a crucial factor in determining the insurance premium.
-
Breakdown Cover:
- Different levels of breakdown cover are presented, ranging from Mutual Assist (included as standard) to National Assist and National plus Home Assist, each offering varying benefits.
