SUNDAY, MARCH 25, 2007 LOCAL ODESSA AMERICAN 3B County commissioners to discuss upcoming special election nance agreement with Dataco DeRex for four Printonic printers. Approval of a recommendation from the Job Evaluation Committee concerning placement of an outreach specialist within the county's salary classification system. Approval of the county library's annual report to the state library and renewal of membership in the Texas State Library System; acceptance of a $1,000 donation in memory of Billye Ruth Evans from Dr. and Christopher Hall and Jessica and Adam Weber. Approval of a line item transfer for the county attorney's office.

In executive session, commissioners are expected to consider personnel matters in the Highway and Street Department. Another personnel matter involving the retirement eligibility of Jo Elliott, an employee of the tax office, is also to be discussed in executive session, Precinct 2 Commissioner Greg Simmons said. Simmons said the matter is being discussed in closed session since it involves information in Elliott's personnel file, but that he did not know specifically what would be discussed. County Judge Susan Red-ford was out of town Friday and could not be contacted for further information.

Commissioners will also consider On a related matter, Mendoza will give commissioners a report on purchasing additional Direct Recording Electronic voting equipment to ensure an adequate inventory for the county's future elections and seek approval of an effective voter education plan. Mitzi Scheible in the elections office said the additional equipment would cost Ector County about $90,000. Commissioners also will consider transferring $23,792 from the general fund to the Elections Department fund to cover various line items related to the May 12 election. Ector County Extension Agent for Horticulture Debbie Frost is to introduce Crystal Henderson to commissioners as the county's new extension agent for agriculture. Frost said 'the county has been without an agriculture Counting Station Manager and Central Counting Station Tabulation Supervisor for the May 12 election.

The only proposed amendment on the May 12 ballot would authorize the Texas Legislature to reduce the limitation on the total amount of ad valorem taxes that can be imposed for public school purposes on residence homesteads of elderly or disabled Texans for the 2006-'07 tax years. The amendment is to correct an omission in legislation passed in 2005 that gave taxpayers a reduction in school taxes. Due to the omission, people older than 65 and the disabled were not included in the bilL The amendment must be passed in May to take effect this year so the tax reduction can take effect as tax bills are calculated in the summer to go out in October. According to a Big Spring Police news release, Jose Alfredo Jimenez, 46, was arrested and charged with five counts of aggravated robbery, evading in a motor vehicle, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer and theft over $50 and less than $500. The news release stated that Jimenez was arrested after pulling a knife on Big Spring Police Officer StovaU. Stovall than utilized a taser gun to subdue Jimenez.

Mrs. Patton was born on December 28, 1917 in Blossom, TX, the daughter of William and Willie Burks Gantt. Mrs.

Patton's family moved to Breckenridge TX in 1928 where she attended Eliasville Public Schools, graduating in 1936. After attending Slippery Rock State College in Slippery Rock, PA, Mrs. Patton received bachelor's and master's degrees in special education, speech and hearing therapy from East Texas State University. Mrs. Patton enjoyed a teaching career that spanned 35 years, including 27 years in Odessa at Crockett, Sam Houston and Hood Jr.

High, from which she retired in 1976. Prior to moving to Odessa, she taught in Stevens and Young Counties and in Edinburgh, TX. Mrs. Patton married William B. Richardson in Blossom, TX in 1945.

He preceded her in death in 1975 following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Patton was married to Nelson Patton in 1976 until his death in 1989. Mrs. Patton was a member of Texas State Teachers Association and was later involved in Ector County Retired Teachers Association, Order of the Eastern Star and Democratic Womea She was an active member of Belmont Baptist Church where she was in the Rebekah Sunday School Class.

Josepft CoUman ODESSA On March 23, 2007, the gates of Heaven opened up to welcome home a much loved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Bernard "Red" Ordener was born on November 30, 1927, in Seneca, MO, to John Leo and Catherine Ordener. As a small child he moved to Archer City, TX. From 1950 to 1952, Bernard served his country in the Armed Forces in Germany. Shortly after returning home he began working in the oil fields.

On April 2, 1955, he married the love of his life, Tommie Ree Collins, in Wichita Falls, TX. They were married 52 years. In 1961, they moved to Crane, TX, where they lived for five years. In 1965, he began working for Drill-Air, Inc, which later became Dresser Air Drilling. He retired from his position of Area Operations Manager of West Texas in February, 1985.

Bernard loved life and lived it to the fullest. He loved working in his pecan orchard, going fishing as often as possible, and sharing stories with and farnily of days gone by. He especially loved fishing and playing golf with his two best sons, Larry and Garry. They had many good times laughing and enjoying each other's company. He also shared a close and special friendship with his two daughters-in-law, Rhonda and Christy.

Bernard also enjoyed spending time with each of his seven grandchildren, especially while fishing on his boat His grandchildren will always cherish special memories with their favorite "Pawpaw." He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his wife, Tommie Ordener of Gardendale; sons, Larry Ordener and wife, Rhonda of Waco, TX; and Garry Ordener and wife, Christy of Odessa; brother, Frank Ordener and wife, Wyvonna of Midland, TX; grandchildren, Michelle, Elizabeth, Christina, Kevin, Bradley, Bryan, and Bryce; and 1.
